About the Artist

Barbara Sullivan is a narrative painter. She makes single objects, scenarios and large room installations that are bas-relief using fresco as a medium. She uses this traditional age old medium in a contemporary way. Barbara is interested in the common and the everyday and believes that is a place where we all truly understand one another through our daily quotidian tasks.

Barbara's work is large (life- size ) and makes it very suitable for public art projects such as percent fro art work.

She shows regularly in Maine and is represented by Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland,ME she has also exhibited several times in New York. and on Long Island. She has been included in the last three biennials at the Portland Museum of Art.
