About the Artist

The Machias Arts Council is committed to advancing creativity, strengthening community, and expanding access to arts education throughout Downeast Maine. We support artists, provide inclusive learning opportunities, and deliver cultural programs that enrich the region’s economic and civic vitality.

As part of this mission, the Machias Arts Council operates the Machias Arts & Education Center, a welcoming hub where people of all ages can explore, learn, and create. The Center offers a year‑round schedule of classes, workshops, and hands‑on programs led by local and regional artists, fostering skill‑building, curiosity, and creative confidence.

Our onsite gallery showcases rotating exhibitions that highlight the diverse talent of Downeast Maine’s artistic community, giving emerging and established artists a place to share their work with residents and visitors alike.

Through education, exhibitions, and community‑centered programming, the Machias Arts Council works to ensure that the arts remain a vibrant, accessible, and unifying force in our region.
