Maya Stein

About the Artist

Maya Stein is a Ninja poet, writing guide, and creative adventuress. She has kept a weekly short-form poetry practice, “10-line Tuesday” since 2005, and facilitates writing workshops in person and online. She is the author of three collections of poetry, two collections of creative nonfiction, a collaborative work, “Grief Becomes Us” focusing on loss, and most recently, “The Poser,” an art book/essay collection featuring 38 contemporary portrait re-creations. After a 7-year stint in suburban New Jersey, Maya is now happily ensconced in mid-coast Maine, in a house named Toad Hall. She serves as Editorial Director of Toad Hall Editions, a small publishing company she helped launch in 2021. In April 2023, Maya was named the Poet Laureate of Belfast, Maine.
