About the Artist

countercurrent collective creates adventurous and thought-provoking theatre and dance experiences that create space for our community to come together and have transformational shifts.

Our passion is to create professional-grade happenings for our community that are unlike anything they have experienced before; experiences that blend history, music, theatre and dance in surprising ways and are set in and around Belfast at unique locations. In addition to our devised work, we plan to produce contemporary plays that reflect the artistic excellence of counter/current:collective, starting with our first show of the season, The Aliens, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker.

We also host monthly our dance ritual, Rhythm Sanctuary Belfast. Rhythm Sanctuary Belfast is one part epic world music dance party, one part sacred ceremony, one part sound bowl healing, one part sharing laughter and snacks with new friends.
