About the Artist

Maine native; documentary photographer, and naturalist. Specializes in environmental portraiture and recognized for her work in Maine and Latin America. images portray the significance of daily routines and traditional means of livelihood. Photographs in the exhibitions Photographing Maine 1840-2000 and Photographing Maine Ten Years Later Award-winning photojournalist for The Maine Times. She combined her expertise in art and medicine as staff photographer at the Jackson and the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratories. Her photographs are featured in Heart of Blues, 25 Years at the North Atlantic Blues Festival, The Wingspread Legacy catalog, and Navigating Maine’s Healthcare System published by Consumers for Affordable Healthcare. She received a Maine Community Foundation grant for The Last Days of Port Clyde Canning, her largest body of work; it combines black and white photography with text comprised of oral histories and from her research to document the Maine sardine industry. Her newest project is photographing burlesque performers.
