About the Artist
I am a theater maker with interest and experience in several areas within the form. Primarily, I make puppets and masks. I also collaborate as a writer and director. As a mask and puppet maker I work in a range of genres from contemporary drama to commedia dell'arte as well as giant figures for parades and festivals. I use traditional materials such as wood and papier-mâché. The main idea that guides what I do is that theater is story-telling with stuff.
As an arts educator, my goal is to design and facilitate learning experiences in which students synthesize doing and thinking into an understanding of theater making and their own creative processes and potential.
I have over twenty years experience teaching theater, puppetry and masks to students grades K thru MBA.
My puppets & masks have been used at The Theater at Monmouth, Bowdoin College (ME); Beau Jest Theater, Nora Theater, Emerson Stage, Chamber Theater Productions, Boston Museum of Science (Boston); White River Theater Festival (VT); New England Renaissance Faire (Cape Cod, MA), George Street Playhouse (NJ), & Second Stage (NYC).
