About the Artist
Richard Keen is from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. He holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts Degree. He moved to Maine in 1999 and taught art until 2003. Since then, he has maintained his studio at Ft. Andross Mill in Brunswick, Maine while subsidizing his life as an artist by working as a diver. He has completed multiple public art projects within the state of Maine and his artwork is held in private and public collections nationally. His most recent solo exhibitions were at the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor, ME, Elizabeth Moss Galleries in Falmouth and Portland, ME, Abigail Ogilvy Gallery in Boston, and The Painting Center in NYC. Keen has received grants from the Maine Arts Commission, University of Rhode Island, and the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. His work was included in the United States "Art in Embassies Program" and he has been a visiting artist at various educational institutions. His work has been reviewed in Art New England, Portland Press Herald, Maine Home and Design, Dispatch Magazine and Fresh Paint Magazine.
