About the Artist
Henry Nigl, Visual Artist/Designer -
Looking back over forty years of art-making I can sort my work into four general themes: figurative/representation, environments/landscapes, and a variety of geometric derivations based on square/trapezoid and circle/ellipse relationnships. Line and color permeate everything.

The American artist Brice Marden once observed that emphasizing the horizontal aspect of a painting represented a landscape the vertical emphasis, a figure. I guess I bought into the argument.
Sensory experience is an enigma for me that I
perceive as part of the constantly changing
physical environment. The myriad changes of life
experience seem to stimulate within me lyrical
interpretations. Simple phenomena mostly taken
for granted by others for me have been
interpreted as beautiful and profound events. An
interpretation I desire to share.
Therefore, for me, if you will, the genesis of ''art''
and the `artist.?
