About the Artist

Working in soft pastel, watercolor or oil, I am drawn to interpreting intersections of natural elements - land, sea, sky - as changes in light or weather are imminent or fresh. Shifting relationships among the hues, values and textures of these components provide a compelling challenge both aesthetically and emotionally. I paint in my studio from a blend of visual and viseral memories and imagination. Outdoors, I seek an unusual perspective, be it intimate or panoramic.

As a pastel instructor I enjoy introducing newcomers to pastel''s painterly potential as well as nudging the experienced pastelist toward enhanced technique and personal expression.
