About the Artist
Anagama Fired Stoneware. I fire all of my work in a 24 ft. long anagama tunnel kiln which I designed and constructed in 1997 after an apprenticeship in Bizen, Japan. The kiln is stoked with wood by a crew of four for eight days. The unique surfaces of the pots are a result of the interaction of the clay, the pathe of the flame as it makes its way throught the stacks of the strong crossdraft kiln, and the accumulated and melted wood ash.
