About the Artist
A seasoned, award-winning performer and experienced teaching artist, Emilia Dahlin has worked with hundreds of children, teens, adults, educators, peace-workers, immigrants, and parents throughout her career. She believes music and storytelling are some of the most powerful tools to foster connection between people and create positive change on the planet.
Emilia’s the founder and facilitator of Sing Me A Story, a professional development workshop that helps early childhood educators and librarians enliven, strengthen, and widen their programming with song and explores how singing supports the whole child and early literacy skills.
Emilia’s produced and host of The Kids Are Alright music series (a partnership between Maine Academy of Modern Music and the Portland Public Library) that sparked Sing Me A Story, and has partnered with many Maine nonprofits teaching songwriting.
Since 2019, Emilia has been part of the In Kinship collective. It creates work that addresses ecological recovery and social justice and follows the tradition of Wabanaki Guiding, connecting Native and non-Native people to place through experience, language, and story.
