About the Artist

Johnson Hall presents arts programs year-round in Maine''s oldest opera house (1864) in downtown Gardiner, and in the wider community. Its mission is to enrich people''s lives in the Kennebec Valley and beyond by offering live performing arts and creative, informational events, to preserve an historic building, and to provide a community gathering place and catalyst for cultural and economic growth. The first-floor studio is renovated, accomodating 100 seats. Plans to renovate the 400-seat theater on the third floor are underway.
Johnson Hall presents Teen/Elementary School Shows in local schools, a Chamber Music Concert in a local church, and in the Hall: the Sounds Good! music series, Teen Band Shows, Summer and Winter Shenanigans Theater and Art camps, Center Stage Series (theater), Open Book Readers'' Theater, R&&&&B Dance Company, dance performances, and other concerts, workshops and performances.
Johnson Hall, a tax-exempt nonprofit, is supported by donations, business sponsors, grants, and the City of Gardiner.
