Wipala Tarka

About the Artist

Wipala Tarka is a trio whose music is drawn from the high plains region of Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador. Performed on bamboo and wooden flutes, guitars of various sizes, violins, and exotic percussion instruments, on a stage draped with Andean tapestries, the show is colorful and the music exquisite: at times achingly melancholy, at times wildly infectious. The members of the trio are Augusto Salazar, Tom Faux, and Leah Wolfsong. They perform concerts, dances, and workshops for school that include lecture/demonstrations and plenty of participation.
