About the Artist
Charles (Chip) Kaufmann lives in Portland, Maine. He is founding director of The Longfellow Chorus -- a non-profit choral group in Portland, Maine -- a bassoonist specializing in historical replica performance, an organist and an award-winning composer. He holds degrees from Eastman School of Music (BM and Performer''s Certificate, bassoon) and Yale University School of Music (MM), where he was a Keith Wilson Scholar. He received two fellowships to Tanglewood. Kaufmann founded The Longfellow Chorus, Inc., in 2007 in order to help celebrate the poet''s bicentennial. The Longfellow Chorus International Composers Competition receives entries from composers based world wide.
