About the Artist

I am exhibiting new paintings in a show called ""Calming the Ocean"" at Aucocisco Gallery in Portland from September 4 - 27, 2008.

I have turned my attention from the athletes that figured in my work for many years to a more personal iconography that includes babies, bathtubs, oceans, hands and feet. The element of water, both as a source of renewal and as a source of danger is featured.
The colors are descriptive of nature to some degree, but there is an edge to them that signals a description of unseen forces as well.

I teach at Bates College in the Department of Art and Visual Culture.
