About the Artist

I work in bronze, using the lost-wax casting process, and I paint, primarily in oils, using traditional European and contemporary techniques. A small sampling of this work can be found at www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/a/andreadegastudios/ and more should be available soon.

I enjoy teaching and empowering others through a range of traditional and contemporary forms and media--from poetry and painting to videography and computer art. I have also been involved in developing projects to inspire social awareness and dialog for the disability and transgendered communities. Currently, a grant from the Puffin Foundation is contributing to the development of oil portraits to accompany a visual anthology of Transgendered People, entitled ""Who Do YOU Think You Are?"" The goal is to make the anthology available nationwide, to create dialog, and to facilitate learning and understanding.
