About the Artist
I am a ceramic relief artist. I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 with a B.F.A. in Sculpture. For many years I sculpted pattern models for the toy and giftware industry. I have found that the most natural and heartfelt method of artistic expression for me is the process of relief sculpting in ceramic clay. I think of my artwork as dimensional painting or drawing. I have produced over two hundred tiles for a custom kitchen installation, with a one-of-a-kind stove backsplash ceramic relief tile mural. It is my greatest desire to do public art using this method of ceramic relief tiles; art with which people truly live. My focus is on portraiture, landscapes, animals, social commentary, visual story-telling, and spiritual subjects.
