About the Artist

Maine native, Susan Conley, is a widely-published poet and non-fiction writer who has been giving readings and teaching innovative workshops for over eight years. For five years Susan was the poetry editor at Ploughshares, a literary magazine in Boston, where she also taught poetry and creative non-fiction workshops as a professor at Emerson College. She now leads exciting workshops throughout New England which focus on giving students unique writing prompts that stimulate their thinking. She has also taught poetry workshops for five years in Harvard's Teachers As Scholars Program. Susan creates a very active learning environment for the students: each day they read selected poetry and prose and create a great deal of new material themselves. The focus of Susan's workshops is to unleash the imagination of each student and to allow writing to become enjoyable. The workshop atmosphere is extremetly warm and supportive and Susan has excellent teacher references upon request.
