About the Artist
Gospel choir, gospel small groups, gospel music, history of gospel, slave songs, negro spirituals, jubilee. The Diversified Faith Gospel Project is a nondenominational, interfaith, nonprofit orgranization that seeks through performances and workshops to educate audiences about the history of American gospel music and its positive impact on our culture--socially, musically, and spiritually. Our aim is to educate others about how this first original form of American music began with slaves overcoming excruciating hardship by using song to express and deepen their strength of spirit and hope for freedom. We also strive to pass along that strength and hope by performing the different traditions of gospel music--negro spirituals, blues gospel, black gospel, and white southern gospel--so that audiences walk away not only feeling uplifted but with a deepened appreciation of the songs and the stories behind them. Our purpose is not religious or political--rather, we seek to carry an uplifting message of hope, strength, and joy to diverse audiences, bringing us closer together to understand the meaning of peace, equality, respect, unity, and justice.
