About the Artist
The central theme of all my work is "the arrested domestic" moment, and in France those moments are still very likely to hold both strength and charm. In France everyday life is still more about the interaction between people, rather than between people and machines. Much of life takes place around a table. I have come to believe that the table has contributed as much to civilization as has the wheel. In 'old' Europe the table still holds an honored place. It is gathered around to celebrate the arts of eating well and conversing well, as well. It is the focal point of many domestic chores and family amusements. In France, the table has not yet been usurped by the television set.
