About the Artist
Allison Cooke Brown is a fiber artist whose work ranges from large scale fiber sculpture and wall pieces to smaller handheld artists'' books. She gravitates toward fabric as a material, and the act of sewing as a domestic activity that is her legacy of being a woman.
""I consider fiber as language, as a means for narrative. The materials I use are derived from the domestic world, varying widely from metal window screen to sewing thread. Working with fiber as a medium provides me the chance to discuss my own experiences as well as my perspective of being female.""
