About the Artist
Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1956, Monica Kelly graduated with a B.A. in Visual Arts from Bowdoin College, and pursued graduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Art. For several years, Kelly taught drawing and painting at the high school level. She lived in San Francisco, France and New York City before moving to Maine in 1989. Music has log been a component of Kelly?s work, both as a listener and a pianist. Committing to focus on painting as her life?s work, Kelly has exhibited primarily in Maine, including solo and group shows at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Leighton Gallery, Greenhut Galleries and Elan Fine Arts.
