About the Artist
For twenty years Cathy was a festival favorite throughout the US, interviewed by the BBC and was even featured in Snowboarder Magazine playing bagpipes astride a snowboard. On a return flight from London right before the events of 9/11 a chain of events began which put her into semi-retirement and an odd string of jobs just to survive. Plagued with suicidal depression she disappeared from the music scene which had not only been her life breath but living for twenty years. She started hormone replacement therapy and kept herself active by recording under the nom de plume Cathy Snow on the internet. Her work was well received and used in several video projects within the GLBT community. In 2007 she legally changed her name and began living her life openly as a transgendered woman ending her self-imposed exile from the public eye. On Valentines Day 2008 Cathy walked out on stage to a small but receptive audience for the first appearance of her comeback. She belted out songs she wrote in a familiar but now somewhat different voice backed by her trademark guitar style throbbing and weaving with alternating bass and unstoppable rhythm.
