About the Artist

Kwabena Owusu is an experienced drum maker and drummer born in Takoradi, Ghana. Kwabena specializes in West African drums and music. He carves, repairs, and tunes more than 20 types of drums, including congas, Djembes, and Doundouns. Kwabena also makes beaded shakers and clappers out of gourds and wood. Many of the instruments Kwabena makes can also be made out of recycled materials. Kwabena also has a rich repertoire of rhythms and songs.
