About the Artist
Henderson?s Redware reproduces a selection of redware pottery in the Anglo-American tradition from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Whenever possible, the pots are based on artifacts that Mr. Henderson has personally examined. He also uses photographs, archaeological quality line drawings, and period illustrations. These handsome, functional pots have the classic lines and restrained decoration that New Englanders have favored for centuries.
Ken Henderson trained in the traditions of the folk potter at the historic HERVEY BROOKS POTTERY at Old Sturbridge Village. He continues to broaden his knowledge and skills through his own research into traditional pottery. Each piece of pottery is individually created and signed by Mr. Henderson. His pottery is available at museum shops and specialty stores nationwide, and his work is nationally recognized for its high quality craftsmanship and artistic expression. One of Mr. Henderson?s pieces is in the collections of the White House.
