About the Artist

Portland''s free improvisation jazz trio Mystic Out-Bop Review, featuring Alonzo Holliday on saxophones, Chico Valentine on percussion and Kit Demos on bass. Actively touring the New England area Mystic Out-Bop Review is this area''s premier free improvisation trio. Straddling the boundries of jazz and avant-garde music they display their talents in energetic performances that spellbind the audiences. In a world where jazz has become a kind of paint-by-numbers academic thing or worse yet soothing background music, Mystic Out-Bop Review shows that energy is the real roots of jazz. Their influences range from jazz, world music, soundtrack music, rock and late 20th century classical. We are also available to provide workshops and demonstrations in free improvisation to schools and institutions who desire to bring in something a little edgy.
