About the Artist

Sheila is a cultural development consultant and founder of CultureWorth, an alliance of professionals who build cultural possibilities for rural communities. Sheila developed her career in Halifax, Toronto, and Montreal and moved to the St. John Valley in northern Maine in 1997. She has close to 20 years of cultural management experience working with all levels of government, cultural institutions, and private enterprise. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Art History, from Carleton University in Ottawa. As Senior Fellow of the Quebec-Labrador Foundation, Sheila completed an international cultural assessment for the St. John Valley. She has curated several exhibitions in Canada and Maine, and was an adjunct professor of art history at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. She recently created the Voici the Valley Cultureway and wrote, narrated and produced a cultural documentary called the Voici the Valley Audio Story. Sheila is currently collaborating with the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center to develop a regional creative economy plan. Sheila served on the New England Task Force for Culture and the Economy, the Governor''s Maine Creative Economy Council, and is a board member of the Maine Humanities Council.
