About the Artist
My name is Connie Pelkey and I live in Central Maine with my wonderful partner Nancy.
I have always had a creative streak in my make up. I took as many art related classes in school as I could. I enjoy, among other things, watercolor painting, crocheting, free form peyote and square stitch beading, jewelry making, and working with polymer clay. I love the ample female form and try to embrace and celebrate it in my art and daily life.
I have been working with polymer clay for quite a while now, but I had a few years hiatus. I had an accident at work in 1995 and had to give up my clay obsession. I was in severe pain and went into a depression when I learned I''d been disabled and could no longer work. Being ""forced"" into an early retirement (disability) at age 35 can be VERY upsetting! Over time I have learned to manage my chronic pain and it''s inevitable limitations, working with my art is one way I cope.
I teach Adult Ed classes in polymer clay jewelry making. I am also willing to teach in the primary and high schools.
