About the Artist

Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Oehmig now resides in Brunswick, Maine. He graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois in 1984 with a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History. Oehmig''s works are infused with light and color, and his impressionistic style is well suited to capturing the play of light on water and the light, fluffy clouds so often present in his work. Oehmig works primarily in Maine and Florida, capturing the coast and the beaches with quick brushstrokes and playful colors. Oehmig''s paintings have won numerous awards such as the Merit Award from the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Mable Axcy Dominick Award at Principia College, the Kodak International Newspaper Award, and Best In Show-Cityscape at the Gallery at Six Deering in Portland, Maine.
