About the Artist

An architectural photographer for nearly thirty years, (I have been the photographer on a dozen or more books, primarily about architecture and historic preservation), I have become a painter of landscapes and portraits. I am most interested in how the light animates an image, not unlike what I strive for in photography, but there the similarity stops. My paintings are about paint and the emotional response I get from a viewer.
I paint in Maine and also in the countryside of West Virginia.
