Chrissy Fowler

About the Artist

Chrissy Fowler is a dance caller who teaches New England social dance -- contra, circle and square dances -- to people of all ages at weddings, schools, festivals, public dances, and other joyous occasions. She has a Master's degree in education and has been calling dances throughout New England since 2000. Chrissy is especially good at introducing beginners to the delights of contradancing, as she demonstrated with hundreds of happy dancers at the 2006 and 2007 American Folk Festivals in Bangor, ME. Teaching traditional New England dance in schools allows her to match her skills as an educator with her infectious enthusiasm for social dance. Residencies can be tailored to any grade level. Chrissy hails from Belfast, where she co-produces the Belfast Flying Shoes dance series every first Friday of the month.
