About the Artist

Monmouth Community Players (MCP) is a community theatre in central Maine. MCP was established following a meeting with about 40 local citizens who had expressed an interest in creating a community theatre. A strong desire to increase the use of our beautiful and historic Cumston Hall also greatly influenced our decision to become more involved. After a successful fundraising effort, MCP produced its first musical, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", directed by then Artistic Director, Lucy Rioux, with musical direction by Norm Rioux. This was enthusiastically and successfully received by the audience, and a decision to continue producing musicals and plays was made. The Board was established and has continued to be a proactive organization, not only involving the citizens of Monmouth but also the surrounding communities.
