About the Artist
Since its founding in 1976, the Saco River Festival Association has earned a respected reputation in bringing distinguished musicians to delight audiences each year through its annual summer concerts held in Cornish, Maine. Co-founded by Frank and Ruth Glazer, the Festival Association serves the cultural interests of the Sacopee Valley and contiguous areas in Cumberland, York, and Oxford counties and that part of New Hampshire bordering Southwestern Maine. Since the Glazers launched the organization from their 19th century farmhouse in Porter, Maine, the group has gathered a devoted following and has hosted over 300 national and internationally known artists and numerous Maine based groups who have performed hundreds of different works from major classical literature.
The Festival Association?s mission is to present the best in music through performances by major artists, encourage and nurture community appreciation of the arts, and develop the musical interests of school-age children through meaningful educational programs. Audiences are drawn from an increasingly wide geographic area stretching from Midcoast and Northern Maine to the shores of New Jersey down into Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York.
