About the Artist
Artist Gale Bellew began creating a new Fiber Art form which she has trademarked as ""Hairlock Painting""tm. This unique and creative work combines her passion for working with animal fibers and the simple principles of Asian ink painting to create her impressive work using animal fibers as her ""paints"" on canvases she hand makes of paper pulp and wool fibers. This art form breaks through the walls of traditional fiber art forms in a way that no other has before her. Ms. Bellew has shown her work at the alternative gallery space at The Fryeburg Fiber Center during Fryeburg Fair, the Bank of Bermuda Fiber Festival at the Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation''s Elliot Gallery and was awarded a cash prize for her piece titled ""The Chanticleer"" which was entered in the Charman Prize competition and show held at the Materworks Museum of Bermuda.
