About the Artist

Oak Street Studio's A Young People's ART Institute is a community school of fine arts for youths ages 2 and up. It was founded in 1999 by Beth Wilbur Van Mierlo as a space to engage students in the richness of high-end, fine arts educational experiences. Oak Street focuses on providing a working studio space for students to immerse themselves in the ever changing world of fine arts! Students meet weekly over three trimesters. Classes are 1 to 1 1/2 hours. We host an Art Walk opening at the end of each trimester featuring students work. Our mission is to provide a ""college for kids"" curriculum. Students are introduced to methods and materials that are inspired by college courses. Our projects are based in art history and children''s literature. We use fine arts materials, as well as incorporate local field trips. Please see out web site for the current schedule and summer programs.
