About the Artist
Mask making is a universal activity and art form that can articulate the specific values, customs and beliefs of each culture. Younger students can deepen their understanding of culture through the mask making experience, while older students can explore the psychological and spiritual potential of the mask as it reveals and conceals aspects of the self. Projects can connect to literature themes, social issues and multicultural awareness. The experience of making a plaster cast of each student's face is the foundation of Ellen's workshops.
