About the Artist

Barbara Helen Baker has been acting, teaching and writing for the theatre for over 30 years. Before returning to Maine in 2010, she taught theatre for K-12 and was theatre director at Lon Morris College in Texas. She directed the San Antonio premiere of "Dead Man Walking" and was one of 14 teachers chosen to work with master acting teachers at the New York Actors Institute in 2009. In 1982 she produced the "Fame in Maine" project at Maranacook Community School, featuring an unknown 17 year old named Patrick Demspey.
Barbara most recently taught acting at The Public Theatre's summer teen actor training program in Lewiston. She is available for residencies in voice, acting and playwriting for grades 5-college.
