About the Artist
I create stone sculptures of fish, sea creatures, insects and other animals, as well as botanical motives. My work is inspired by the beauty of nature, and I have developed an organic style that is influenced by aesthetic concepts of East Asia and Africa.
My preferred materials are granite, field stones and bronze. I am frequently inspired by the coincidental shape of a rock boulder and like to preserve a stone’s weathered and eroded surface in my work. The resulting representations of animals often look ancient and fossil-like, hinting at the fragility of life and the threat to nature through our civilization.
Another line of my work are large play sculptures for public locations. With these I hope to contribute to a bond between people and the sculpted animals.
My work is displayed in my own sculpture gallery and habitat garden at Green Art in Kittery/Maine.
