About the Artist
After 35+ years as a potter Rick is still amazed with the process of transforming balls of clay into works of art. He works in a variety of clay bodies creating one-of-a-kind ceramic art and pottery which is collected for it's classic lines and glazes. Surface color and texture are achieved thru various firing techniques and by using glazes and slips made in the studio on Peaks Island.
His studio is located in a two story converted barn at the corner of Island Ave. and Epps St., second floor, and exists to develop, sustain and promote art with a focus on pottery. Rick's Gallery is located on the first floor and exhibits ceramic art, pottery, oil paintings and blown glass by established and up and coming artists.
Rick's work has been exhibited in shows and galleries across the US. He
is a member of The American Ceramic Society Potters Council, National Council On Education For The Ceramic Arts, Maine Crafts Association, Made In Maine, MEANA and AANA.
