About the Artist

I grew up in mid-coast Maine in a family of self taught artists and musicians with family roots going back many generations on the islands and mainland of the Maine coast.
I learned to paint with oils at a very young age from observing my mother, aunts and uncles as they created landscapes and portraits.

Painting provides a balance of artistic creativity, inspiration and emotional expression to balance my analytical logic-centered career in marine research.

I have worked with oils, charcoal, colored pencil, pastels and acrylic. Over the past several years, I have found the spontaneity and luminescence of acrylic paint well suited to my personality and life style. Whether it is the lonely, raw beauty of the ocean or the calm and quiet peace of the Maine countryside; my goal is to create art that is not only beautiful but emotional and inspiring.
