Tricky Britches: Old-Time and Bluegrass music

About the Artist

We are a high-energy string band from Portland, ME. Our small but devoted following throughout the state keeps us on a steady circuit playing clubs, festivals, libraries, parties and weddings. Aside from our busy touring schedule, we offer our talents to elementary schools in an educational package. The package includes two presentations (or one for every 200 students).
Adjusted for each age group, the presentation follows guidelines set by the International Bluegrass Music Association. We demonstrate the evolution of American folk music in chronological order, showing the transformation from Irish and Scottish dance tunes - to Appalachian music - to modern Bluegrass. Even interactive at times, our hour-long presentation has proven to be engaging for all elementary students.
