About the Artist

I have been painting using water media for most of my life. I describe my work as "New Century Modern" as it relates, in style, to some mid-century modernist art that I admire. The approach is to simplify and flatten what I see so that it remains in a pure state, unaffected by time. My subjects come from my immediate surroundings and from my travel all over Maine, and may vary from landscape to figure art. I work with watercolor on paper in transparent layers and add acrylic color for effects that are deep and rich. I have been working on a series based on the beaches and rocky coastline areas of Maine. I am now exploring acrylic on large canvas'. My paintings work well in either private or corporate settings. I have recently been affiliated with Aucocisco Gallery in Portland Maine.
