About the Artist
In junior high I took a photography class and I've been hooked ever since. I got a BA degree in photography at Brooks Institute in 1978, but by the time I graduated I realized that I was a lot more interested in the art of photography than the business of photography. I joined the U.S. Air Force and spent 20 years as a combat search and rescue (CSAR) navigator which also gave me the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the U.S. and Europe. Since I retired 10 years ago, I've been getting back into photography--digital photography in particular. I love the ease, control, and freedom that digital photography provides. I also love experimenting in Photoshop to create interesting artistic effects. I've always loved hiking and the outdoors so most of my work is based in the natural world--land and seascapes and macro/close-up. My primary purpose is always to create something beautiful and to communicate the feeling of awe and wonder that I feel when I witness the incredible beauty of the natural world.
