About the Artist

Maine Pro Musica, Maine's newest professional orchestra, is an orchestra comprised of Maine musicians who perform year round throughout the state. It was founded by Rockport resident Janna Hymes, the Conductor and Music Director of the Williamsburg Symphony in Virginia. Maine Pro Musica's inaugural concert was held August 2008 at Camden Harbor Park and was followed by a Holiday Pops concert in December, an annual event for our community.

The mission of Maine Pro Musica is to enrich our communities with first class music performances. Its diverse repertoire is inspiring and artistically rewarding, engaging audiences of all ages. With a strong commitment to education, Maine Pro Musica hopes to continue to present curriculum- based programs.

Our educational concerts introduce the instruments of the orchestra and uncover the mystery of music. Our scholastic programs are designed to directly relate to the curriculum of the schools, tying the music of the programs to classroom studies. These programs promise to inspire and excite young audiences as we spread the magic of music; creating the next generation of Maine's musicians.
