About the Artist

Archipelago, the Island Institute store and gallery, showcases a broad and unique collection of handmade art, craft and design that represents the very best of Maine's islands and coastal communities.

Since Archipelago opened in 2000, we have returned over $2 million to Maine's artists and makers, providing an important component of the Institute's work to sustain the economic viability of these special places by diversifying local economies.

Shop Archipelago and you will find jewelry, pottery, art, accessories, sculpture, in many mediums - stone, wood, silk, wool, porcelain, sterling, sea glass and more. You'll also be helping to support one of Maine's greatest natural assets: its island and working waterfront communities.

Located in downtown Rockland, we're pleased to be a made in Maine shop! Remember, Archipelago is ever-changing, just like the seasons of Maine.
