About the Artist
The Bagaduce Music Lending Library is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to collect, preserve and share printed music and support music education.
Some of the programs we support:
1.) Annual Blue Hill Pops Concert featuring Maine talent (26 years)
2.) Annual Young Composers Competition and Festival (21 years)
3.) 8th Grade Student Awards Program in the State of Maine (5 years)
4.) Collaborations with the Blue Hill Public Library, Kneisel Hall, the Monteux School of Conducting using our resources and talent for musical collaboration with Opera previews, children's workshops and Music in Literature programs for children.
5.) Collaboration with the area High Schools for community service obligation fulfillment
6.) Support of local youth performance groups and their educators
7.) Offering of free opera preview workshops for the simulcast performances at the Grand Theater every Saturday
8.) Volunteer outreach and workshops for book binding and paper preservation
9.) Scanning of printed music for IPad usage and preservation for future musicians
10.) Exhibits at various venues throughout the State of Maine, as at the State House last year for non-profit day, of the Maine collection and our rare and unusual music through the years. They range from a 1669 Trumpet Overture by Henry Purcell, to present day popular and classical pieces. The music cover art is a historical study in social etiquette, morality and principles.
We have over a million pieces of sheet music with over 250,000 individual titles and lend these all around the country and to 27 foreign countries. Our collection spans all genres of music except band music. We had a professional study done a few years ago and it was found that 47% of our music could not be found on any other shelves.
