About the Artist
Irene Dennis is an award-winning actor/director, originally from the Boston area. She studied in the professional theatre program at The Boston Conservatory. In MA, she performed at the Lyric Stage of Boston, the Falmouth Playhouse, and other regional theatres, as well as directing multiple award-winning productions in community theatre. Irene also served as an adjudicator for the Eastern Maine Association of Community Theatres in their mentorship program.
Since moving to Bangor, she has made a number of appearances in Penobscot Theatre Company productions, as well as having directed shows for Ten Bucks and the University of Maine Summer Music Theatre Festival.
She has also taught acting and stagecraft for many years, working with both children and adults. Most recently, she has taught acting for both Bangor and Orono Adult Education. For the past seven years, she has facilitated the Bangor Public Library Play Reading Group. She is presently serving as President of Bangor Community Theatre, and has directed multiple productions for them, most recently their Spring 2019 production, "I Remember Mama."
