About the Artist
I am passionate about bringing people closer to the Cosmos with my artwork. Science fuels my work in many ways, specifically color mapping in outer space; what can’t we see with our human vision? Visible light is a fraction of energy we see on the electromagnetic spectrum, which leads me to further explore the vast possibilities of cosmic representations. Currently I'm collaborating with the Astronomy Department of Carthage College on a large-scale series to bridge art with science by utilizing astro-imaging software with my cosmic representations.
I paint with my canvas flat on the floor in an abstract expressionistic approach. I use acrylic and with acrylic inks which gives my work a watercolor-feel. Resin and powdered pigments are often utilized in layers to give more depth to a painting. I typically paint large-scale.
I create work for private collections, public art commissions, museum and gallery exhibition. I recently relocated from New Hampshire, where I co-founded the Femme Fatales of the North, a contemporary arts group that promotes women artists in the New England. In 2015 I began a clothing line that features original hand-painted silk garments.
