About the Artist
John Bear Mitchell brings his Penobscot and Passamaquoddy culture to institutions of learning at every level through Wabanaki singing, drumming, storytelling and history. John has a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. His pride in his heritage is expressed through his work and the teachings of others. His goal is to eliminate sterotypes and present a realistic view of today's Native Americans. John speaks on various topics and does assemblies for elementary schools. Week long residencies are also available.
