About the Artist

The Pysanka, or decorated egg, dates as far back as 5000 BC and was associated with religious and mythical ceremonies. Lesia Sochor learned this ancient spring tradition of egg decoration from her Ukrainian mother. In a one to one-and-a-half hour workshop, children or adults can complete a decorated egg through the basic wax resist process. Her workshops can include information about the Ukrainian culture and its revival since its independence from the Soviet Union.
